This morning my mother in law and I were talking in the kitchen. She was in a wonderfully happy mood, almost glowing. I mentioned to her how her happiness was infectious and she reminded me that some days we can want to share our happiness with those around us.. it bubbles out we can’t hold it in and other days, we are reflective about it inwardly and feel like saying “go find your own happiness”.
Not in a negative way, but in the sense of I am quietly thankful for the blessings God has given me today and I want to hold them in me as a way of reminding myself about the blessings He gives me every day.
Then we moved onto how we find happiness. where do we look. We talked about how a beautiful rose bud can be the source of happiness, especially when we perhaps realise that rose bud wasn’t there yesterday. It’s Allah’s gift for today and it is likely gone tomorrow. If we don’t take the time to look at the bud today but rushed past that rose bush as we so often do, we would miss that gift of a rose bud given for our appreciation today. Masha’Allah.
Out talk this morning as we greeted the New Year of 2011, remnded me of my duas after Mahgrib Salat a couple of days ago. I was praying and as I was thanking Allah for a couple of blessings I remembered.. so one after the other came other reminders of other blessings. I remember finishing my dua and Salat with a big smile on my face. I was literally bubbling with happiness.
Count your blessings.. Name them One by One…
Don’t let today pass without thanking Him SWT for the Rose Buds in your life today. They may not be there tomorrow!!
